Our trip to Jeju Island was out of Gimpo Airport at 8:55am, so we were on the subway by about 6:30am and, after a few kerfuffles, on the small Jeju Air plane for the hour and fifteen minute flight. We hopped on an airport limousine bus for an hour long ride through part of Jeju City and then the countryside heading south to the first place we’re staying, Hotel Lotte Jeju.
It’s a huge resort complex, with a large pool and cliffside access to beautiful Jungmun beach, which is popular with surfers. We had lunch at a bagel place near the hotel, before heading to Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls and taking the 500m trail down several sets of wooden stairs to see the third waterfall. It’s lovely, but the heat and humidity got to us, and after climbing our way back to the top of the trail, we didn’t have the energy to check out the first and second waterfalls.
So we went back to the hotel, took a few minutes to cool down, and checked into our rooms, before spending the afternoon swimming and hanging out in the pool. We had dinner and ice cream at 7-Eleven, and I was asleep by 8:30pm. I knew I’d be up way too early, but I just couldn’t help it!
Thankfully, I got a great night’s sleep and was all ready a full day of pool lounging, beach exploring, and more of eating my way through all the delicious food South Korea has to offer…
