For our last few days in Japan, we’re back in Tokyo, with nothing really planned. Our first day involved just getting to our hotel after surfing, shopping, and lunch in Kamakura. We’re staying in a different part of Tokyo, this time in Akasaka, which is northwest of where we stayed at the start of our trip, in Minato.

Akasaka is livelier, with lots of restaurants and bars, more people, and it’s closer to major train stations. We spent some time in Shinjuku on our first evening, then woke up to another super hot and humid day, and ventured out to Sunshine City. There, we bought tickets for a movie on Monday afternoon, and then tried our hand at some claw machines – where Kevin got a small Godzilla toy after just two tries!

Then we hung around a mall with a large Pokémon store and other toy stores that was full of families and a lot of fun. For lunch we searched the nearby subway station for a while before we found another location of a T’s Tan Tan, where we each had a different Tan Tan, and even bought some take out ones to bring back to the hotel for later.

Rowan and I needed a rest after that, so we lounged in our air-conditioned hotel room for an hour or so, while Kevin shopped for some more CDs.

For dinner, we opted for some Vietnamese food at Lotus Palace just down the street from our hotel, and then some more walking around the neighbourhood. In the sweltering summer heat, evenings are absolutely gorgeous, and we love strolling through the streets, seeing different sights under different sparkling stars, and dreaming new dreams.
